What better way to promote the myriad opportunities in OR/MS and analytics to undergrads … than by sharing the stories of fellow students who are currently pursuing their degrees in these fields?!
We invite you, our INFORMS student chapters, to share what inspired you to pursue your degree, and in particular, the benefits of obtaining an advanced degree (PhD).
Create a video presentation that would excite undergraduate students to learn more about pursuing a graduate degree in OR/MS and analytics. The audience may be students from any STEM field (e.g., engineering, mathematics, science, social science, statistics), so be sure to describe OR/MS in a way that appeals to a broad range of majors with little or no advanced knowledge of the field.
You may choose to highlight the following in your videos:
Video files (.mp4 and .mov formats are acceptable) must comply with fair use of copyrighted materials guidelines (including background music/songs) and be presented in the English language or with English subtitles.
If you’ve ever scrolled through TikTok, you know it’s important to get your message across quickly and effectively (and that it’s entertaining!). We encourage you to keep your video to between 90 seconds and 2 minutes (3 minutes is the maximum length allowed for your video).
Now down to the good stuff! The winner of this video competition will be awarded $1,000!
Teams must include at least one INFORMS student chapter member at the time of the submission. Entries are limited to one per student chapter. All submitted entries will be judged by the INFORMS Free PhD Task Force. Video entries must be received by November 13, 2024. The winning student chapter team will be notified by December 4, 2024.
All rights for the entries will be owned by INFORMS.
